Guwahati News Desk: A COVID-19 patient died after administered the newly launched 2-Deoxy-D-Glucose (2-DG) due to post COVID complications at Jorhat Medical College & Hospital in Jorhat on Sunday.
The patient who was undergoing treatment at JMCH was the first in Assam to administer with the newly launched drug.
The 2-DG anti-COVID drug was developed by the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) in collaboration with Dr Reddy’s Laboratories.
The newly released drug come in powder and is orally dissolved in the water before consuming.
According to the sources, the patient had been consuming drugs since May 22 and has tested negative for COVID-19. He procured the drug from his uncle who works as a senior scientist in Hyderabad.
