Guwahati News Desk: The ‘War on Drugs’ has been launched under the leadership of Chief Minister of Assam Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma as a huge quantity of drugs were destroyed in Golaghat and Diphu on Saturday.
From Golaghat 802 gm Heroin have seen seized by Assam Police having a market value of more than 20 crores.
1,205 kg Ganja, 3 kg of Opium and 2,06,996 meth tables have been seized and destroyed by setting on fire by the officials along with the CM Sarma.
11.88 kg Morphine, 2.89 kg Crystal Meth, 3.47 kg Heroin, 102.91 kg Cannabis and 2,03,384 numbers of tablets have been destroyed in Diphu.
Since the new CM is taken charges a total of 874 cases have been registered so far. Around 1,493 drugs dealers were arrested and drugs worth Rs 164 crore have seen seized by Assam Police.
Assam Police has launched a search operation against the peddlers and successfully breaks down the chain of drugs across the State.
CM Sarma stated, “Assam government has a zero-tolerance policy against drugs and this is not negotiable.”
