Guwahati News Desk: With the rise in the agitation of farmers in nations’ capital, brutalities too crossed limits. The suicide of the Sikh priest, Baba Ram Singh on Wednesday has raised multiple questions for the centre to handle the situation smoothly.

In protest against the Centre’s farm laws, the 65-year-old has committed suicide by shooting self at Singhu border. His body was kept in Nanaksar Gurdwara in Singhra village in Haryana’s Karnal district on Thursday for public homage as the cremation will be held on Friday.

The Gurdwara has been flocked with followers from Haryana and Punjab since early morning with special security arrangements.

In his suicide note, he states that it was hard for him to experience the sufferings of farmers who are sitting on the outskirts of Delhi protesting against the farm laws ordered by the centre recently.

The incident drew much attention in the political level. Punjab Chief Minister Amarinder Singh in his tweet wrote that “Extremely shocked and saddened on learning of the tragic news of Sant Ram Singhji…My prayers are with his family and supporters in this time of grief”.

“My condolences and tribute in this hour of grief. Many farmers have sacrificed their lives. The brutality of the Modi government has crossed all limits. The government should quit its stubbornness and withdraw the anti-agricultural law immediately,” wrote Former Congress chief Rahul Gandhi.
