Guwahati News Desk: By January 2022, the very first commercial pilot training academy in the northeast will open in Lilabari, in the Lakhimpur district of Assam. The Red Bird Flight Training Academy was awarded the contract to establish three flight training organisations (FTOs) around the country, one of which is located in Lilabari. The Airports Authority of India released the letter of award on May 31 this year (AAI). According to AAI insiders, the academy is expected to open on January 25, with a goal of producing 200 pilots every year.
Golda Liza Nengnong, the east and northeast spokesperson for Red Bird Aviation, stated that arrangements are nearing completion for the instructional sessions to begin shortly.
“At the Lilabari academy, potential airline flyers from all around the world are going to train. It will be a big benefit, particularly for South Asian nations, and students who aspire to be commercial pilots will be able to do so right here in the northeast “Golda” said.
Students have to move out of the station to follow their aspirations due to a dearth of professional instruction for commercial pilots. The Assam Flying Club, which used to give training, has been defunct for a long time. The new academy, according to Golda, would contain state-of-the-art training aircraft with sophisticated avionics identical to those found on Boeing and Airbus planes. In India, commercial aircraft are flown by Boeing and Airbus.
