Guwahati News Desk: City-based NGO Guwahati City Development Association (GCDA) has distributed certificates and medals to the winners of an online art competition organised on the occasion of World Environmental Day at Snehalaya in Paltan Bazar on Monday.
During the ceremony, Administrator of Snehalaya Father Thomas John and Director of Child-Friendly Guwahati Father Tommey felicitated the winners of the competition by handing over the prizes.
The prize distribution ceremony was leaded by the GCDA team as the Executive Director, President, Secretary and Treasurer were present.
In the special category from Snehalaya, Dipika Chetia student of Class 4 received the first prize and Gunnu Boiragi of class 4 won the second prize in the group A category.
On the other hand, in the group B category Jainav Khatun of Child-friendly won first prize and Chandrama Das of Child-friendly won the second prize.
In the general category, Bastav Das of class 4 of Assam Jatiya Vidyalaya bags the first prize and Maharshi Baishya of Class 5 of Anand Academy won the second prize in the group A category.
In category B, Gargi Bhattacharjee of class 11 of Budding Bud Senior Secondary High School of Tinsukia claimed the first prize and Migakshi Sarma class 12 of St. Mary’s School won the second prize.
More than 800 children participated from all over the northeast as well from other parts of India.
During the ceremony Father Tommey said, “The competition is very helpful for the children of Snehalaya and Child-friendly as it helps to boost their skills during especially during the pandemic situation.”
Guwahati City Development Association is a newly founded non-governmental organisation in 2021 by young youths who are currently working in different professions across the city.
The main aim of GCDA is to work in three sectors i.e. Waste Management, Skill Development and Green Guwahati.
