Guwahati News Desk: Traffic jam has become a major problem for the Guwahatians from Kamakhaya to Maligaon due to the construction of the longest city flyover in Maligaon.

It is common to see a rush in the streets of Guwahati during office hours but the rush of Maligaon has reached a different level for the commuters to drop on their destination. For the construction of the flyover, all the dividers have been broken for which commuters are getting one lane and traffic is seen regularly from Maligaon flyover to Kamakhya.

Traffic is also seen an hour before the curfew timings as from Kalipur till Maligaon footbridge if one coming from Bharalu side.

To avoid the traffic many two-wheelers who were heading towards Jalukbari were seen taking the opposite wrong lane and people coming from Jalukbari takes the NF Railway road to avoid the same.

The construction of the bridge is going full-on as after the completion of the bridge it will completely reduce the traffic of Maligaon area.
In the Maligaon road, multiple police points were there as it connects with Boragaon, Kamakhya Railway Station, Pandu, NFR Headquarters, Railway Colony and after the completion of the bridge vehicles can directly drive over the flyover in less time.

The main motive of the government of Assam is to construct the flyover to minimize the regular traffic in Maligaon and people can move towards the city from Guwahati International Airport, AIIMS, and other places without suffering the traffic.

The Maligaon to Kamakhya Gate flyover will cover a distance of 2.9 km as it is the longest flyover and a part of the Guwahati Smart City Project constructed under the Public Works Department (PWD). The total budget of the projects is worth Rs 420.75 crore.
The flyover is expected to be completed within the next three years.
