Guwahati News Desk: The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has informed that heavy rainfall might hit Assam and other northeastern States for the next five days on Saturday.
In the official notification, IMD stated under the influence of strong moist southwesterly winds at lower tropospheric levels from the Bay of Bengal to the northeast and the adjoining east States of India and a trough at mean sea level from Northwest Rajasthan to Nagaland will lead to fairly widespread to widespread rainfall very likely over State Bihar, Sub-Himalayan West Bengal and Sikkim, Arunachal Pradesh, Assam and Meghalaya in the next five days.

According to the analysis released by IMD, a cyclone circulation will lie on West Assam and the neighbourhood which may extend up to 0.9 kilometres above main sea level.
On the other hand, thunderstorm with light to moderate intensity rain and winds with speed of 20-40 Km/h would occur over and adjoining areas of isolated places of North Delhi, North West Delhi in Narela, Bawana, Kurukshetra, Kaithal, Karnal, Panipat, Gannaur, Sonipat.
Maximum temperatures over the plains of Northwest India are likely to fall by 3-4°C from Saturday and no significant change is likely thereafter. Subsequently, no heat wave conditions are likely over the region during next 5 days.
