Guwahati News Desk: The Guwahati Municipal Corporation (GMC) has announced on Friday to close down all hookah bars permanently in Guwahati.
The decision of permanently close down of hookah bars was taken during a meeting hold by the GMC Commissioner Debashish Sharma with other members of the State.
The hookah bars to be permanently shut down under its jurisdiction as earlier on June 5, it was notified that all such bars were temporarily banned due to prevailing COVID-19 pandemic in the State.
On the other hand, GMC has issued a notification that tobacco, cigarettes and other allied products to be sold by registered vendors in Guwahati.
All the tobacco sellers needed to register themselves with the GMC to procure the license to restrict the sale of tobacco products. Unregistered vendors would not able to sell allied products in the city.
