Guwahati News Desk: The Assam Pradesh Congress Committee (APCC) has staged a protest against the price hike of petrol and diesel including other essentials commodities at Rajiv Bhawan in Guwahati on Saturday.
During the protest the Guwahati Police have put all their effort to stop the protestors from taking out a rally but the agitators were seen move out from the Rajiv Bhawan. The police officials imposed barrier to stop the protest coming out towards main road.
The Congress protestors have also distributed flowers and sweets amongst the bike riders for the success of Bharatiya Janata Party who is increasing regular price hike of fuel. According to the sources, in many places in the State the petrol price has touched Rs 100 per litre and in Guwahati the unleaded to touch Rs 98 per litre in recent days as the premium petrol have crossed Rs 100 mark per litre in Guwahati and across the State.
The Guwahati Police apprehended Assam Pradesh Congress Committee President Ripun Bora, MP Gaurav Gogoi, Pradyut Bordoloi and other party leads. Slogans and cutouts of cylinder gas, petrol pumps has been displayed during the protest against the current government of Bharatiya Janata Party for regularly hiking the prices of essential commodities which has affected the livelihood of the normal people.
According to the sources, due to COVID-19 pandemic many people has suffered their jobs and currently the State is under curfew due to rising cases and on the other hand regularly increasing petrol, diesel, cylinder gas, cooking oil has cut down the normal life from the people.
Other leaders of APCC, Debabrata Saikia, Bharat Narah, Rakibul Hussain, Zakir Hussain Sikdar, Abdul Rashid Mandal, Asif Mohammad Nazar and Abdur Rahim Ahmed were also been apprehended by Guwahati Police during the ongoing protest hold at Rajiv Bhawan.
