Guwahati New Desk: Chief Minister of Assam Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma visited Gorukhuri at Sipajhar in Darrang district to inspect the riverine areas that were encroached by illegal settlers near Dholpur Shiva Mandir on Monday.
CM Sarma travelled in a country boat with State Industry Minister Chandra Mohan Parowary, MLA Dr Paramananda Rajbongshi and former MLA Gurujyoti Das.
Around 120 bighas of land of the temple were settled by illegal occupants in the area which will be freed by Assam Police and the administration.
Assam CM tweeted on his official handle, “All the squatters would be evicted from all parts of Assam to protect the land and the identity from encroached and intruders”.
