Guwahati News Desk: Assam Police have successfully arrested a serial offender from Bhalukdubi of Goalpara district on Thursday.
Police officers seized a huge amount of illicit drugs from his residence who was identified as Jahangir Alom.
The accused Alom allegedly running an underground mini-factory in his residence to make cocaine based cough syrup which includes yaba tablets, nitozepam tablets, heroin and spasmo tablets.
The recovered drugs which were kept underground are worth a value of Rs 10 crore in the market.
The caught of a a peddler Jahangir Alom is a big success for the Assam Police to fight against drugs.
Chief Minister of Assam Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma tweeted, “#FightAgainstDrugs In a major breakthrough Assam Police nabbed a serial offender Jahangir Alom at Bhalukdubi and seized drugs & psychotropic substances worth Rs 10 cr. Alom ran an underground mini factory to make codeine-based cough syrup. Determined to eliminate drugs cartel”.
Assam Police have seized illicit drugs worth Rs 23.8 crore in the last month.
During the operation, took out by police officials against drugs more than 500 peddlers arrested.
According to the government records, heroin worth Rs 7,98,68,000 was seized, Ganja worth Rs 6,10,49,059, Tablet worth Rs 9,02,60,700 Morphin Rs 50 thousand, Cough Syrup of Rs 38,68,500, Opium of Rs 11,07,500 and Poppy straw Rs 18,45,000 amount of drugs were seized by the State Police in the last one month says, Chief Minister of Assam Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma.
The Assam Police has started its war against drugs as itâs breaking the chain of drug smuggling and syndicate in the State.
