Guwahati News Desk: The first case of a Black Fungus (Mucormycosis disease) patient died at Assam Medical College and Hospital (AMCH) in the Dibrugarh district on Thursday.
The first case of Black Fungus found in a COVID-19 negative patient case has been detected during a test conducted by a team of the Microbiology and Ophthalmologist departments on Saturday night.
The 47-year-old patient was a resident of the Lakhimpur district was undergoing treatment on June 15.
Earlier, the patient was admitted to Lakhimpur Civil Hospital after tested positive for COVID-19.
Later, the patient recovered from COVID-19 disease but developed symptoms of Black Fungus after suffering a severe headache and red-eye.
The patient was under medical observation and treatment as the condition of the patient found stable and medical officials allotted more treatment for the next 21 days.
According to the sources, the hospital has all the required medicines for the treatment of the disease.
The first-ever Black Fungus (mucormycosis disease) was detected at Apollo Hospital in Guwahati in May as the patients succumbed to it and later the government of Assam has declared it as a notifiable disease on May 26.
