Guwahati News Desk: Amidst the increasing covid positive cases in the state, Chief Minister of Karnataka Basavaraj Bommai held an emergency meeting with the health department and other stakeholders on Saturday evening.
According to records of the last few days, at least four covid clusters were reported in Karnataka including Dharwad, Bengaluru and Mysuru.
As informed by Dharwad District Collector, Nitesh Patil, 99 medical college students and faculty members were tested Covid-19 positive in Karnataka’s Dharwad district, taking the total number of affected medical students to 281 on Saturday.
In addition, CM Bommai also informed that increasing Covid-19 cases were also being witnessed in a few colleges, hostels and in Kerala too.
Thus, taking all these into consideration, a meeting was called by the CM at 4p.m. on Saturday with the health department, disaster management and covid advisors.
In the meet, discussions took place in order to come up with a comprehensive action plan.
Bommai said, “We have called this meeting an emergency and we will take up measures immediately to avoid any more clusters.”
However, the CM asserted that along with the action taken by various departments of the government, the public also needs to exercise a little more caution and that there is a need to know if there is a new variant.
