Guwahati News Desk: Two officials of Kaziranga National Park and Tiger Reserve (KPNTR) were arrested by police officials on Saturday after pieces of rhino horns were seized from thir belongings.
The arrested were identified as camp-in-charge Sonia Orang and forest guard Dipen Kumar Nath.
According to the sources, the forest workers have handed over four rhino horns in the last two years as the rhino horns are known to be of huge value in the black market which is considered illegal as per law.
According to the sources, the rhino horn price is estimated at around $65,000 USD per kilo which is around 49 lakh in Indian rupees in the Asian Black Market.
Another two people were arrested by Dibrugarh Police with suspected animal horn from Panchali area of Dibrugarh on Thursday.
Dibrugarh Police seized one rhino horn, one small elephant tusk and 19 grams of heroin from the accused and also recovered a cash of Rs 1.30 lakh. The accused were identified as Meraj Khan and Aniz Rahman, residents of Panchali area itself.
