Guwahati News Desk: Due to continuous heavy rain the water level of the Brahmaputra river at Lachit Ghat in Fancy Bazar was increasing.
The level of the river reached at a warning level due to heavy rainfall for continuous rain in the recent days.
According to the sources, the water level in Brahmaputra river in Guwahati is increasing from 20 cm on Monday at 8 am in the morning to 42 cm on Tuesday at 10 am.
The complete Lachit Ghat was submerged under water due to increasing level of water as all the water transportation service are in dilapidated condition.
The Lachit Ghat is one of the famous tourist destination in the city where people make their way to relaxation and to enjoy the sunrise, sunset and the fresh air of the flowing Brahmaputra river. Eateries vendors were also seen in the destination and it’s nearby localities used the location for morning walk, evening walk including yoga and exercise under complete nature but the ghat is completely underwater now as the water is very close to reach the footpath of the Fancy Bazar.
According to the sources, the floods have affected over 3 lakhs people across the 21 States in Assam.
