Guwahati News Desk: Milan Chetri – the man whose partially decomposed body was recovered from his rented house at Lakshminagar, Chinmoy Path in the city on November 21, 2021– died of a heart attack and was not murdered, disclosed Dispur Police.
Subrajyoti Bora, DCP (East), told media persons on Sunday that the rented house from where Chetri’s body was recovered, was locked from outside and the key was found by the police inside the house.
He added that according to the post-mortem report, there were no external injuries on the body. The post-mortem report concluded that Chetri died of a heart attack due to excessive consumption of alcohol.
According to the viscera report of the deceased, only alcohol and no poison was detected. During the investigation, Chetri’s family members had told the police that he owed money to many people.
To avoid them, he would often lock the door of his house from outside and stay inside. Before his death, he did the same thing. He locked the door from outside and stayed inside and drank alcohol. He died of a heart attack. His body was recovered in a partially decomposed state after neighbours got a foul smell from the house and informed the police.
Chetri ran a small roadside shop and also took up odd jobs as a painter to make ends meet.
