Guwahati News Desk: A mysterious incident took place at Dighalipukhuri pond in Guwahati after more than 1000 fishes reportedly found dead on Saturday.

Soon after the incident, it was immediately informed to the fishery department and Guwahati Police.

According to the sources, the fishes were found lying on the surface of the Dighalipukhuri pond as it was identified as local fishes.

The government of Assam on Sunday has ordered a probe to find out the actual reason for the unusual incident where over 1000 fishes died reportedly in Guwahati.

The immediate order for a probe came from the Environment and Forest Minister Parimal Suklabaidya on a Twitter, “Following the news of dead fish floating on Digholipukhuri in Guwahati, instructed the officials of the department to visit the site and ascertain the cause(s) of fishes’ deaths”.

According to the sources, the cause of the death of the fish could be a reason of low oxygen level due to heavy rains.

The fishes found dead includes Rohu, Silver Karpa, Kamal Karpa, Mirika, Japanese Kawai and Mirika (Assamese names) as all they weighed between one kg to 10 kg.
