Guwahati News Desk: Finance Minister of India Nirmala Sitharaman approved new bridge over the Brahmaputra near Guwahati City on Thursday.
The newly sanctioned bridge over the Brahmaputra river to connect Palashbari to Sualkuchi as the approved project was worth Rs 3094 crore.
It will be the nearest bridge to connect Lokpriya Gopinath Bordoloi International (LGBI) Airpor in Guwahati City.
Chief Minister of Assam Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma said under the vision of Prime Minister Narendra Modi of ‘Transformation through Transportation’ Government of Assam as taken a focused approach to boost connectivity in the State.
The Palashbari-Sualkuchi bridge will reduce the connectivity from Nalbari, Barpeta, Hajo to LGBI Airport of Guwahati.
On the other hand, the Finance Minister today inspected the ongoing construction of 6-lane bridge project of 8.4 km over the Brahmaputra river connecting Guwahati to North Guwahati as the total cost of the project is worth Rs 2608.68.
The bridge was constructed to ensure smooth traffic flow and help in expanding Guwahati City towards North bank.
The bridge to cut down the journey time and distance between Guwahati to it’s nearby adjoining northern district.
