Guwahati News Desk: Assam will have it’s first wildlife safari cum open zoo in the Cachar district. It will be the second zoo in the State after the Assam State Zoo cum Botanical Garden in Guwahati. An amount of Rs 240 crore will be spent by Assam Government for building the zoo.
Assam Chief Minister (CM) Himanta Biswa Sarma has announced the decision to construct the zoo on Wednesday at the Cabinet Meeting held in Haflong, Dima Hasao on January 19. CM Sarma also informed the media that the animals in this zoo will be provided specified spaces instead of keeping them in cages. The visitors will be given tours in closed vehicles, he added.
