Guwahati News Desk: A flight instructor died and his trainee pilot injured when a small aircraft belonging to a flying school, crashed in Maharashtra.

The accident took place at around 4 pm, near the Wardi village in the district’s Chopda area, which is part of the Satpura mountain ranges.

The information regarding the incident was received by the authorities at around 5:15 pm, on Friday.

An official stated, “One occupant was declared dead on arrival by hospital authorities while the second person has sustained injuries.”

The aircraft that crashed, was understood to be TECNAM P-2008.

The two-seater aircraft of Italian make belonged to the NMIMS Academy of Aviation (NMIMSAA).

The Academy immediately identified the deceased flight instructor as the 28-year old Noorul Ameen, who was from Bengaluru in Karnataka, and regarding the trainee-pilot, she was the 22-year old Anshika Gurjar, who is a residential student of the SVKM NMIMS Academy of Aviation from Khatgaon in Madhya Pradesh.

The reports have stated that Anshuka has suffered multiple fractures in the mishap, but is ‘out of danger’.

A senior BJP MLA and president of SVPKM, Amrish Patel, said that the injured trainee pilot Anshuka was being shifted to Mumbai’s Nanavati Hospital for treatment of fractures by late Friday or in the early hours of Saturday.

The Union Civil Aviation Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia tweeted, “Shocked to hear about the tragic crash of a training aircraft that belonged to the NMIMS Academy of Aviation, Maharashtra. An investigation team is being rushed to the site”.
He further added, “Unfortunately, we lost the flight instructor & the trainee was severely injured. My heartfelt condolences to the bereaved family & prayers for the trainee’s quick recovery.”

Although the aircraft involved in the mishap was in a good condition, had been given air worthiness and training certificates barely six months ago, it still failed to save the life of the flight instructor.
