Guwahati News Desk: The All Assam Students Union (AASU) of Sivasagar district unit and Bir Lachit Sena Asom staged a protest and burned down effigies of Union Minister of State for Petroleum and Labour Rameswas Teli in front of ONGC Nazira office on Thursday.
The protestors warned that the students’ union to bring all operations of the oil and natural gas across the district if the government does not retract its merger policy.
During the protest, huge slogans were thrown against the workers and staff of ONGC including the employee’s unions for not being vocal against the merger movement.
The protest was done as the current Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) government has continuously pushing to create privatization by the merger of the biggest oil and production company ONGC, Assam Asset with OIL.
It was said Prime Minister Narendra Modi has including two Ministers Sarbananda Sonowal and Ramesawar Tali from Assam in the Union Ministry has a big reason. The protestor also mentioned that they will never tolerate the Assam’s pride as a huge structure was created which leads the cause of privatization in India.
