Guwahati News Desk: A man arrested for raping and killing a minor girl was shot by police officials at the Balidonga area in the Morigaon district of Assam.
According to the sources the rapist, Syed Ali was attempting to escape from Police clutches while being taken to the crime spot. But later was shot and received severe injuries.
The accused was immediately brought to the Gauhati Medical College and Hospital (GMCH) in Guwahati for further treatment.
The incident took place on June 20 when Ali dumped the body of the minor in a paddy field at Bolidonga. Soon after the incident, the Morigaon Police nabbed the rapist and murderer of a 9-year-old girl.
The 65-year-old accused Syed Ali was a former priest at a mosque and a habitual offender too.
Chief Minister of Assam Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma has ordered a probe into the unfortunate incident that took place in Morigaon. People demanded the death penalty for the accused of raping and murdering the minor girl.
