Guwahati News Desk: Indian swimmer Sajan Prakash becomes the first Indian swimmer to qualify for the upcoming Tokyo Olympics on Saturday.
27-year-old Sajan achieved the feat in the men’s 2000 m butterfly at 1 hour, 56 minutes and 38 seconds at the Sette Colli Trophy at Rome in Italy.
Union Minister for Youth Affairs and Sports Kiren Rijiju congratulated Indian swimmer Sajan for qualifying for Tokyo Olympics and becoming the first Indian to reach such heights for the first time.
The Tokyo Olympics to start on July 23 and the tournament to continue till August 8 this year.
The event which too is held last year but due to the COVID-19 pandemic across the world it’s was postponed.
