Guwahati News Desk: The Supreme Court on Tuesday said that the CBI investigation in the Hathras rape case will now be directed by the Allahabad High Court.
Monitoring of probe and providing security to the victim’s family as well as the witnesses, would be considered by the high court, the apex court said.
A bench headed by Chief Justice S A Bobde accompanied by V Ramasubramanian said the plea for transfer of trial in the case from out of UP would be considered after the CBI probe is over.
A 19-year-old Dalit woman was allegedly gang-raped in Hathras district, Uttar Pradesh by four upper caste men on 14 September. She later died on September 29 at Delhi’s Safdarjung Hospital.
