Guwahati News Desk: Sri Lanka defeated Bangladesh by five wickets in their Super 12 match of the ICC T20 World Cup on Sunday

The match between Bangladesh and Sri Lanka took place at the Sharjah Cricket Stadium in Sharjah.

In Sunday’s match, although Liton Das and Mohammad Naim gave Bangladesh a good start, it was their fielding which led them to their defeat.

In addition, team Bangladesh lost more momentum as the Sri Lankan batters came hard at them in the Powerplay.

Regarding team Sri Lanka, they did not start well, as they lost the wicket of Kusal Perera in the very first over. But it was the second wicket partnership between Charith Asalanka and Pathum Nissanka which got Sri Lanka back into the game.

Eventually, the player of the match turned out to be Charith Asalanka, who top-scored with an unbeaten 80 off 49 balls, while Bhanuka Rajapaksa blasted 53 off just 31 balls.

On the other hand, opener Mohammad Naim was the highest scorer for Bangladesh with his 62-run knock, while Mushfiqur Rahim contributed an unbeaten 57.

The members of team Bangladesh included of Litton Das, Mohammad Naim, Shakib Al Hasan, Mushfiqur Rahim, Mahmudullah (c), Afif Hossain, Nurul Hasan (wk), Mahedi Hasan, Mohammad Saifuddin, Nasum Ahmed and Mustafizur Rahman.

The members of team Sri Lanka included of Kusal Perera (wk), Pathum Nissanka, Charith Asalanka, Avishka Fernando, Bhanuka Rajapaksa, Dasun Shanaka (c), Chamika Karunaratne, Wanindu Hasaranga, Dushmantha Chameera, Lahiru Kumara and Binura Fernando.

The final score of the match between Bangladesh and Sri Lanka mounted up to Bangladesh’s being 171/4 (20) and Sri Lanka’s being 172/5 (18.5).
