Guwahati News Desk: The Assam State Disaster Management Authority (ASDMA) today issued a new set of Guidelines ahead of the celebration of Chath Puja and Raas across the state – to be celebrated in the month of November.

All visitors to the Puja location shall be subjected to thermal scanning by Puja organizers and no person with any symptom related to COVID-19 shall be allowed to enter the Puja pandals. Strict compliance of social distancing, wearing masks, etc. is to be maintained. All organizers and volunteers must be at least vaccinated with one dose of vaccine and preferably with two doses of vaccination. In case any person/visitor to Puja pandal is suspected to be symptomatic with COVID-19, it will be the responsibility of the Puja organizers to inform the nearest Government medical facility and arrange for the shifting of such persons to the nearest COVID treatment centre

The Government has permitted the Gathering & Meetings at both open & closed spaces – 50% capacity in closed spaces. Specific Guidelines have been issued regarding the celebration of Chath Puja – barring any cultural event in connection with the celebration. Only 5-persons are allowed per family to perform Puja at the ghat.

Moreover, guidelines have been issued ahead of the celebration of the Raas Festival – with all organisers needing to seek permission from the District Administration to organise any Raas Festival. Children below the age group of 10-years and Senior Citizens above the age group of 65-years – are not allowed to take part in the Raas Festival Celebration.
