Guwahati News Desk: After serving as the Indian ambassador to China for nearly three years, Vikram Misri has been appointed as the next Deputy National Security Advisor in the national security council secretariat.
The appointment was successfully completed on Monday.
According to reports, Misri will be succeeding Pankaj Saran, ex-Indian envoy to Russia and Bangladesh who demits office on December 31.
The 57-year-old Misri, a 1989-batch Indian Foreign Service (IFS) officer, has also worked in the Prime Ministerâs Office in the past, with three Prime Ministers including I K Gujral, Manmohan Singh and briefly, with Narendra Modi as well.
He has also served in various capacities at the headquarters of the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA).
In addition, he has also served in various Indian Missions in Europe, Africa, Asia and North America.
Meanwhile, the government has already appointed Pradeep Kumar Rawat as India’s new envoy to China.
