Guwahati News Desk: Asia’s oldest and India’s Biggest and Prestigious International Film Festival (IFFI) kick-started at Goa on November 20 – India’s first international festival after COVID-19 Pandemic.
The festival has brought in a piece of good news for Assam, wherein Assam’s feature film, created by an entire team of debutants – named Sijou – got screened earlier today. Sijou – a film in the Bodo language, directed and written by Vishal P. Chaliha, was screened today at the IFFI, Goa.
Vishal P. Chaliha said, “this makes us happy, as to be part of a prestigious film festival like IFFI is always a dream and an honour. Sijou is created by an entire team of Debutants. Myself as the Director and Writer, the DP, Chief AD, Script Supervisor, Music Director and almost the entire technical team comprised of debutants.” Chaliha added, “we have begun to talk with Distributors regarding the availability of the film to the mass audience.”
Sijou is now being planned for a commercial theatrical release or a release on an OTT platform for the public. The release could be expected after January, 2022.
This, however, isn’t Sijou’s first screening at a prestigious film festival. Previously, it has been screened at the, 52nd International Film Festival of India Chicago; South Asian Film Festival; International Film Festival of Thrissur (Special Mention); Washington DC South Asian Film Festival; Indian Film Festival of Melbourne; and Bristol Independent Film Festival (Best Film) and several other festivals.
