Guwahati News Desk: Kanika Talukdar, an incubatee of North East Agriculture Technology Entrepreneurs Hub (NEATEHUB), the agribusiness incubator of Assam Agricultural University, Jorhat, is shortlisted for November 2021 “Man Ki Baat,” the monthly radio show of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
The show will be aired on 28 November, Sunday 2021, where the Prime Minister will share the story of Kanika, among others. She is the founder of Jayatu Organic Products LLP, a startup dealing in Biopesticides and Biofertilizers based in Barama, Nalbari. She started the company with meagre 500 rupees in 2014 after receiving training from Krishi Vigyaan Kendra, Nalbari.
Her life was full of hurdles as she lost her husband at a very young age, making her the family’s sole bread earner. It was difficult for her to secure a job with almost limited formal education, but her agri startup employs more than ten persons now. Her products include enriched vermicompost, vermi-wash etc., which are also available on e-commerce sites. While reaching out to Kanika for her reaction, she expressed happiness in the news and thanked everyone for helping her entrepreneurial journey.
Speaking about Kanika’s NEATEHUB connection, she was part of the incubator’s first cohort of Isanya, the pre-seed incubation program of NEATEHUB. Through the incubator, she was also able to raise funding of 5 lakhs under Rashtriya Krishi Vikas Yojana – Remunerative Approach for Agriculture and Allied Sector Rejuvenation. Besides, she also received support in product development, industry linkage and marketing support from the incubator.
Responding to the news Dr. K. Karthikeyen, CEO NEATEHUB said, “Kanika Talukdar is an extremely hard-working entrepreneur and has been doing commendable work in the area of Waste to Wealth, I am sure her journey will motivate a lot of women to seriously take up entrepreneurship.”
It is to be mentioned that ever since its inception in 2019, NEATEHUB has been instrumental in handholding the agri and allied sector startups of the North East.
