Guwahati News Desk: Government of Assam to provide government jobs to all the athletes and sportspersons who bag gold, silver, and bronze medals at national and international platforms announced by the Assam Sports Minister Bimal Bora on Monday.
The government of Assam also announced that sportsperson who already have won the medals at Olympics Games, Commonwealth Games, or Asian Games receive sports pensions which were increased to Rs 10,000 from Rs 8,000 per month.
The decision taken by the government of Assam, earlier Chief Miniter Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma said that this will motivate our sportspersons in Assam.
Earlier, Hima Das who bagged gold in Asian Games in Jakarta was offered the job of Deputy Commissioner of Police by the Assam government.
