Guwahati News Desk: Goalpara district of Assam to have the world’s second-largest and Asia’s largest detention camp. The detention camp is currently under construction for those people who will be identified as foreigners.
A whopping amount of Rs 64 crore has been sectioned for the construction of the detention camp under the supervision of the Assam Police housing department. A land of 25 acres was released by the government of Assam for its construction on the banks of Dudhnoi River at Matia in Goalpara. Almost 70 percent of the construction work is already completed.
According to the sources, the detention camp was built for both men and women which will consist of a total of 17 buildings in which two will be separate for women.
The detention camp to have various facilities like primary school, medical, eating hall, kitchen, library, leisure, entertainment, etc. It will have more special facilities for children also. Each building can accommodate two thousand people with separate toilets and bathrooms.
The detention camp to have 120 separate toilets and bathrooms. The construction of the detention camp has been constructed since 2018.
