Guwahati News Desk: Congress leader Juri Sarma Bordoloi joined Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) at the party’s headquarter at Hengrabari in Guwahati on Friday.
Juri Bordoloi joined BJP in presence of newly appointed State party President Bhabesh Kalita and MLA Pijush Hazarika. Juri recently resigned from Assam Congress whereas Rupjyoti Kurmi resigned from his post as MLA.
Along with Juri Sarma Bordoloi, 50 members of the Guwahati committee of Congress joined the Bharatiya Janata Party.
According to the sources, Juri expressed deep anger against the party leadership saying that it has now become a place of fake promises. People do not want Rahul Gandhi as a leader for which we have lost the last election, Juri added.
Juri also said while addressing the people, many skilled and deserving leaders had left the Congress Party, and it’s very sad that the high command of the Congress Party has been neglecting the issue.
Earlier, Mariani MLA Rupjyoti Kurmi who resigns from Assam Congress has joined the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). During his joining ceremony in BJP, Chief Minister of Assam Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma warmly welcomed him to the party.
Kurmi’s sudden quit from Assam Congress is shocking for the party as he successfully defeated the BJP candidate for the Mariani constituency in the recent Assam Assembly Elections. Earlier, CM Sarma has urged all the opposition leaders to join BJP and work together for the people of Assam.
