Guwahati News Desk: The first ever e-hackathon of Northeast India was organised in Guwahati over a webinar Mr Pankaj Gogoi starting the concept of Hackathon and how the best problem statements will come up for various solutions in these COVID pandemic times.
The programme started with the topic “How Startups and entrepreneurship will grow post covid pandemic and how it would impact Northeast India” and was moderated by Mr Sharique Hussain.
In the webinar, Mr Pranjal Phukan, CGM, BCPL spoke about various questions that one needs to ask before starting up a startup and how to apply design thinking process to ideate and empathies a process.
Professor of Bineswar Engineering College Medalson Ronghang, stated that “CEO of any company has not led everyone to go online, infact Covid made everyone to go online be it grocery, be it education or any online ecommerce platform market growth”.
COO for Olatus Systems Private Ltd, Palash Jyoti Mahanta have emphasized how electronics is a big market opportunity for startups to explore in the field of IOT. Startup Assam Samir Baruah, mentor shared how banks will have to play a key role in developing the startups arising from the pandemic, how High net worth individuals have to work and join to create a seed fund for startups like the initiative Brahmaputra angel investment network has taken up. Secretary of Startup Assam Amitabh Baruah shared that a strong intervention has to be taken up by government to work in the field of startups at the grassroot level and PPP model for various industries.
The Second part of the programme commenced from Saturday 10 am, July 10, 2021 where the participants of the hackathon participated in the competition and were judged by Head of Centre for Industrial extension, Indian institute of entrepreneurship Dr. Sriparna Baruah, Former Director of ASTEC Dr.Arup Kumar Misra and Mentor of Startup Assam

Startups with Young India, a session was moderated by Co chair of YI Guwahati Amrit Deorah and Innovation Chair, YI Guwahati Vishal More also shared about their plans on startup initiative.
First Prize of Rs 25,000 have been won by Safe sync, a covid based IOT based solution from NIT Silchar, second prize of Rs 10,000 by EcoVac from Manipur technical University, a robotics vacuum cleaner and third prize of Rs 5,000 by SukhNidra, a mental health product for sleeping disorders from Assam Don Bosco University. These startups will be monitored for next three months in their scaling process and then proper mentoring would be provided to them by the organizers. The Judges congratulated the winners and encouraged student and startup participants in the upcoming events like hackathon.
The vote of thanks was offered by Project Manager of Hackathon Committee Arundhati Bora thanking the sponsors of the programme. The Programme has been organized by Redlemon Technologies and Startup Assam in association with Young Indian Guwahati Chapter, Confederation of Indian Industry.
The Programme was supported by Kahudi farms and Emoto Assist as a safety partner to the hackathon.
