Guwahati News Desk: A shocking incident took place at Hojai after a cleric of a mosque allegedly raped a minor girl on Friday.
The incident happened in the Udali area when the mother of the minor girl went out for some work and knowing so, the cleric took advantage of the situation and went inside the home. The accused was identified as Abdul Samat.
Later, the family members of the minor victim filed an FIR against the cleric Abdul and Hojai Police immediately arrested and kept him in police custody for further interrogation. Meanwhile, the minor girl was sent for medical examination.
Last month, similar incident took place at Morigaon when a 65-year-old Syed Ali who was also a former priest at a mosque brutally raped a 9-year-old girl and dumped the body in a paddy field in the Bolidonga area. However, he was immediately nabbed by the Morigaon Police.
