Guwahati News Desk: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday launched the Mahabahu-Brahmaputra initiative via video conferencing in Assam.
Along with this, PM Modi also laid the foundation stones of Dhubri-Phulbari Bridge and performed the ground-breaking ceremony (Bhoomi pujan) for construction of Majuli Bridge.
The Majuli Bridge will be a two-lane bridge on the Brahmaputra between the world’s largest river island, Majuli and Jorhat.
Assam Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal thanking PM Modi in his tweeter handle wrote, “The Brahmaputra, lifeline for millions, is also the route of Assam and India’s progress. The launch of major projects by PM Shri @narendramodi ji, will further realise the potential of this region & fulfill a long-time dream of the people – the Majuli bridge.” #AatmanirbharAssam
CM Sonowal further tweeted, “Offered tributes to the mighty Brahmaputra at Majuli, and sought its blessings for prosperity and peace, as we embark on an auspicious journey of progress. Brahmaputra Naman.”
