Guwahati News Desk: Poachers were found by forest personnel at West Margherita Range in Dehing Patkai National Park on Sunday.
A search team was sent at Dehing Patkai National Park to apprehend the poachers but somehow they managed to flee while one country made gun and deer meat was recovered during the operation.
The Divisional Forest Officer informed that a gang of poachers on spotting the forest personnel jumped into the Dehing river and escaped.
Later, the raid was conducted by the forest personnel in the houses of poachers with the help of local police and some dear meat was recovered.
The poachers have been identified as 50-year-old Akoman Koch and his son of Bitor Powai village.
A case have been registered under the Wildlife Protection Act, 1972 has been registered by West Margherita Range and an FIR under the Arms Act registered at the Margherita Police Station.
Forest department and local police continued the investigation to apprehend the poachers and identify the buyers as samples of seized meat will be sent for forensic analysis.
