Guwahati News Desk: After Kaziranga National Park and Tiger Reserve, Pobitora Wildlife Sanctuary reopens today after a gap of seven months. Pobitora situated in Morigaon 48 km from Guwahati is globally popular among tourists for its dense population of one horn rhino.
The rhino park reopens with 10 elephant safari and 20 jeep safari for the tourists. The park lacked foreign tourists from last year during Citizen Amendment Act (CAA) protest and in March the park was immediately shut down after the announcement of nationwide lockdown by the Prime Minister of India, Narendra Modi due to rising cases of COVID-19.
The park reopens for both domestic and international tourists. According to the sources, more than 100 rhinos, deer, leopard, wild buffaloes including snakes and tortoises are the center attraction for the tourists.
Pobitora Wildlife Sanctuary holds the record of the highest numbers of rhinos after Kaziranga National Park in Assam.
