Nikita Buragohain: Abhinash Hazarika, a 23-year old artist from the beautiful town of Tezpur, has marked his name in the Assam Book of Records, with his artistically created 1cm×1cm portraits.
Abhinash is a blooming artist, well-known in the town for taking commissioned artwork orders of portraits, paintings and craft items. In addition, he is also a teacher of his own school named “Creative Space: School of Art and Craft” and is currently engaged in teaching a total of 14 students.
Apart from art, Abhinash is interested in the world of Computer Science, and is currently studying in N.I.E.L.I.T. Tezpur, pursuing his “A” Level in Information and Technology.
In a conversation with Hello Guwahati, Abhinash dearly shared about his journey of achieving the title and also about his experiences and views about life as a young artist:
Abhinash started out by saying, “First and foremost, I am in the happiest stage of my life, as a dream of mine came true. I am finally a record holder! This achievement has not only boosted up my confidence, but has also given me a strong push to pursue all my pending goals as well.”
Regarding his intention behind selecting the 1cm portrait category for setting his state record, he said –
“My intention behind selecting the 1cm portrait category was not merely to beat someone else’s record, but was to make one of my own. Also, as I am someone who is always very curious about everything, I simply wanted to explore more about my own qualities. So, it was more like giving a new challenge to myself, and about discovering my skills and doing my best.”
The four eminent Indian personalities that he chose to make the portraits of, include – Shaheed Bhagat Singh; Father of the Nation, Mahatma Gandhi; Rupkonwar Jyoti Prasad Agarwala and Northeast’s Cultural Icon, Dr. Bhupen Hazarika.
According to Abhinash, the above mentioned personalities had always occupied a special place in his heart and so, when he got the opportunity to express his love and admiration towards them in a special way, he went ahead and chose them to set his first ever record, with them being his inspirations.
As an artist, Abhinash loves to experiment with various art forms and artistic tools. For which he is well equipped with numerous genres of art too, including –Portrait Art, Charcoal Art, Doodle Art, Palm Art, Abstract Art, Stone Art, Pen Art, Warli Art, Water Color Art, Glass Painting, Acrylic Painting, Oil Painting, Wall Painting, Knife Painting, Collage Making, Human Figure Composition, Still Life, Sponge Dabbing, and many more.
Along with being an excellent portrait artist at such a young age, he is also a self-taught sculptor, who has started practicing in this field as well.
To conclude, he wishes the best to all the upcoming record-holders and advises them to be versatile and open to trying new things, as exploring oneself will push them forward and surely lead them to greater heights.
