Guwahati News Desk: The GMC (Guwahati Municipal Corporation, on Friday, penalized nine business establishments for operating without a valid trade license.
The Health and Enforcement branches of the GMC conducted a trade license inspection drive in Toyabulla Road (Dighalipukhuri), AIDC and Nayanpur and Hengerabari roads in Ganeshguri area of the city. During the drive, a total of 11 business establishments were inspected.
These include including hotels, lodges, fast food kiosks, restaurants, unisex beauty parlors and departmental stores. Except for a fast food kiosk and a departmental store, the others were found to be operating without a valid trade license.
As per provisions of the GMC Act, all parties operating without a valid trade license were issued notices and imposed fines. An amount of Rs 22,500 was collected as penalty during the drive, said senior medical officer of GMC, Dr Kumar Partha Pratim.
