Guwahati News Desk: The 63-year-old actor, veteran actor Anupam Shyam, breathed his last on Monday, following multiple organ failures.

It was his friend, Yashpal Sharma, who informed that due to kidney infection, Shyam was admitted to a city hospital in suburban Goregaon, Mumbai, four days ago and was on a ventilator battling for life.

Sharma informed that Shyam breathed his last at the hospital amidst the presence of his two brothers, Anurag and Kanchan. He said, “The doctors informed us about his death 40 minutes ago. I was at the hospital, with his brothers Anurag and Kanchan. His body is still there in the hospital.”

The funeral took place in his residence at New Dindoshi, MHADA colony.

After the news of his passing away came out, several celebs took to their social media handles to pay their tribute to the senior actor.

Actor Manoj Joshi tweeted, “Saddened by the demise of my friend and very talented actor Anupam Shyam ji We have lost a great man. My deepest condolences to his family and friends.”

Actor Ranvir Shorey prayed for his soul to rest in peace by writing, ‘Om Shanti’.

Regarding the late actor’s career, he was best known for his roles on the TV shows like, “Mann Kee Awaaz: Pratigya” and for his appearances in films like “Slumdog Millionaire” and “Bandit Queen“. Also in his nearly three-decade long career, Shyam featured in several films, like “Satya“, “Dil Se“, “Lagaan“, “Hazaaron Khwaishein Aisi“, but received critical acclaim for his role as Thakur Sajjan Singh on “Mann Kee Awaaz Pratigya“, which aired in 2009 on Star Plus. Infact, recently he had resumed shooting for season two of his show “Mann Ki Awaaz: Pratigya“.

The departed soul was diagnosed with a kidney infection last year, for which the actor’s family had also requested help from his friends in the entertainment industry for his treatment.
