Guwahati News Desk: A wild elephant was allegedly electrocuted and killed in a paddy field in Mirza on Friday.
After the incident, the Assam forest department has held two persons who had installed illegal live electrical wire around the paddy field.
According to the sources, the two accused installed live electrical wire around the paddy field as when the wild elephant came into contact with the wire got electrocuted, and died. After the incident, the locals immediately informed the forest officials as the elephant was found lying dead on the ground after electrocution.
Forest officials immediately rushed on the spot and covered and disconnected the illegal live electrical wire that was installed. The two arrested persons will be charged as per law for killing a wild elephant.
