Guwahati News Desk: The Supreme Court have it’s verdict on the Baghjan issue of Assam which they urges to propose six new committees having four members each on Monday.
Earlier, the National Green Tribunal had appealed the Supreme Court for it’s hearing on Baghjan issue.
In the year 2017, the Expert Appraisal Committee (EAC) meeting of the environment ministry shows Oil India Limited had requested that it would be granted permission to use the earlier public hearings.
According to the sources, the expert and green activists now have raised concerned over OIL managed to get approval from the Ministry of Environment.
The Supreme Court hearing on the Baghjan issue was benched by the Justice DY Chandrachud and Justice Shah which had sent a written notice to the Ministry of Environment to propose a list of six committees which to include 4 members in every committees.
The next hearing on Baghjan issue was scheduled on August 26 by the Supreme Court of India.
