Guwahati News Desk: Singapore has permitted Eat Just, the US-based start-up, to sell its lab-grown chicken meat, as the firm is the world’s first regulatory approval for clean meat that does not come from slaughtered animals.
The report said that the product, created from animal cells without the slaughter of any chickens, will debut in Singapore under the GOOD Meat brand as a chicken bite with breading and seasoning in a single restaurant.
Eat Just stated:
“The first-in-the-world regulatory allowance of real, high-quality meat created directly from animal cells for safe human consumption paves the way for a forthcoming small-scale commercial launch in Singapore.“
Likewise, Josh Tetrick, the CEO and co-founder of Eat Just, said that the cost has since come down and the meat would be priced at parity to premium chicken when it first launches in a restaurant in Singapore “in the very near term.”
Thus, he added:
“The company is targeting operating profitability before the end of 2021, and hopes to go public soon after.”
