UP journalist set on fire using sanitizer, three arrested

Guwahati News Desk: A 37-year-journalist and his friend was set on fire by three people at Balrampur in Uttar Pradesh.

After the incident, police officials arrested three persons including the son of a village Pradhan. The accused used alcohol-based hand sanitizer to set fire.

Rakesh Singh Nirbhik who was a Lucknow-based newspaper journalist of Rashtriya Swaroop and his friend Pintu Sahu received multiple burn injuries inside the journalist’s home.

Soon after the incident, both were immediately admitted to Lucknow Hospital while Sahu was declared dead.
Nirbhik told hospital officials informed that he has covered a story regularly on alleged corruption by the local village gram Pradhan.

The accused has been identified as Akram who has a criminal record including murders, his friend Lalit Mishra and also the son of pradhan, Rinku Mishra.
