Guwahati News Desk: At least four people were killed and 52 others arrested in the violent protests held inside the US Capitol in Washington D.C on Wednesday.
Addressing the media, Metropolitan Police Department Chief Robert Contee confirmed that a woman was shot and killed, while three others on ‘separate medical emergencies’ near the Capitol grounds.
The police arrested a total of 52, four for carrying pistols without a license and one for possession of a forbidden weapon.
Twenty-six of the 52 arrests were made on Capitol grounds, Contee added.
A total of 14 officers were injured.
The violent situation evolved right before the Chambers were preparing to certify President-elect Joe Biden’s Electoral College win.
