Guwahati News Desk: The Kamrup Metropolitan District Administration (KMDA) conducted COVID testing and awareness generation among fish vendors in Uzanbazar Ghat in Guwahati on Saturday.
The awareness generation was led by the Guwahati Revenue Circle Officer Lakhyajit Duwaria and his team. The COVID test campaign was conducted for the safety of the vendors and its customers during the pandemic. The fish vendors use to meet various customers across the city as Uzanbazar Ghat is one of the popular fish market.
Recently, the COVID-19 positive cases in Kamrup Metro took a sudden hike in the last few days as on July 15 Kamrup Metro listed top with 263 cases among the districts in Assam. Continuously from July 12 to July 15, above 200 COVID-19 cases were reported in Kamrup Metro even after implementation of odd-even rule and ban of inter-district travel.
Meanwhile, Kamrup Metro got a bit relax on rising cases after they reported 174 cases on Friday. To control the rising cases government of Assam immediately has issued a notification of withdrawing the earlier orders of incoming passengers who won’t have to undergo mandatory screening on arrival at airports and railway stations after receiving two doses of COVID-19 vaccines.
The new notification released that all the incoming passengers arriving at Guwahati International Airport and railway stations mandatory need to undergo the COVID-19 screening test even after receiving two doses of COVID-19 vaccines.
According to the report, the decision was taken as many people have been infected with the COVID-19 virus even after inoculated both doses of vaccines.
The earlier notification was withdrawn with immediate effect on Friday as mandatory testing was ordered during the arrival of passengers in Assam.
